Enjoy a taste of Craniosacral Therapy
Special thanks to all the people and organisations who helped in some way to make the taster event a success, especially to Roy and Steve Parker and their team at Natural Choice in Ashbourne, who gave their total support and use of the therarpy room for the day.
TASTER EVENT NETS £££ FOR LOCAL CHARITY - A DEFINITE SUCCESS
The all day craniosacral therapy taster event in Ashbourne on 14 June 2008 was a definite success with ninety seven pounds ( £97) pounds being raised for Ashbourne based charity Readycall. The day was full and interesting. More than the monetary success was the fact that most of the people who had taster sessions had no previous experiences of bodywork or other complementary therapy. Some came with existing health issues others with a large dose of curiosity. They were all open and receptive to the experience and very grateful. In my view, reaching this virgin audience is the best measure of success. Comments from participants included.. "I saw the most beautiful colours and just went with it"
"I felt a deep sense of peace"
"I can't relax, I need something....I'm definitely coming to see you"
Make a difference and feel a difference - Craniosacral Therapy Awareness Week 8th - 14th June 2008
Awareness week gives me a real buzz because I can openly share my passion for the work through newspaper / magazine articles, road shows, radio interviews, and this year a day of taster sessions on Saturday 14th June at the Natural Choice Therapy Centre in Ashbourne. Natural Choice have even dedicated the entire window display to Craniosacral Therapy. The best part is that I am working for free as all proceeds are going to a local Ashbourne based charity - Readycall, which works to support vulnerable and elderly people, helping them to live independently at home through befriending and support services. For me this is a way to give something back into the community in which I work, while doing what I love most!
What exactly is Awareness Week I hear you ask, and what's it got to do with me?
Well it's an annual event organised by the Craniosacral Therapy Association UK, during which time members 'do' a variety of events to make the general public more aware of the benefits of this very gentle but powerful method of treatment. It's a sort of marathon really. A great deal of activity is simultaneously concentrated into one week by Association members in many parts of the UK. It is getting the word out that this therapy can make a difference to people in their everyday lives, with all sorts of conditions from back pain to stress and emotional issues. Making people aware that help through this treatment method is available and where to find it.
It's got everything to do with you, whether you are ill or healthy. Craniosacral therapy can improve and fine tune the health you already have, and help those of you with existing health issues and chronic conditions to improve, find balance or just be more at ease with what's happening in your life. The benefits come in many different ways! Here's your chance to discover who your local Craniosacral therapist is, to meet and talk to her or him (yes there are a few around!) about the therapy and the benefits.
If you are reading this before the big day then why not book a taster session, there are still a few places left. Or call into the Centre for a chat and a leaflet, or just look at the lovely window display on Craniosacral therapy. You have the chance to feel good twice, relax and de-stress while knowing you are contributing to worthwhile community work.
Promoting Awareness Week on the 17th May at a Food and Craft Fair at the Amberside Farm Shop in Pentrich. A cold and windy day where the display boards almost blew away!!
